What a happy occasion -Your wedding day!
I
specialize in simple, intimate, just
the two of us wedding ceremonies and vow renewals. There
are many beautiful, romantic places in Hawaii for a wedding, for
a
lifetime of
marvelous
memories! I like to suggest one of our beaches (barefoot,
toes wiggling in the sand) or graced in a Koolau valley, our majestic
mountains overseeing Windward Oahu;
or near Waikiki in exciting Honolulu at Magic Island. I
am located on
the island
of Oahu and do travel to our neighbor islands for
a wedding. (Hawaii map)
Something
really special you'd like for your wedding?
Whether
you dream of a simple, get-away ceremony, dream of exchanging wedding
vows at a remote waterfall, or even envision the
two of you flying high in the air as you become husband
and wife, your special day can be any way you dream it. I
don't offer "wedding packages" which
may include services you don't choose to include, rather will customize your requests so your wedding day will be your dream come true.
Each
ceremony is individually planned,
a service you can't get with a packaged wedding.
No two couples are just the same, and your wedding shouldn't be,
either.
Special
attention is given in the areas of personalized
vows, assistance with obtaining an apostille
stamp for non-United States citizens, and I can communicate
with the hearing impaired via American
Sign Language. I offer prenuputal
counselling and accommodate
other individual requests not mentioned.
Courtesy
to Military in Uniform
This means that if you're in the Armed
Forces, active duty, you qualify
for a special fee for your wedding ceremony. (Other services, i.e.,
license, photography, flowers, etc. not yet included)
And,
if you've been in a Middle East combat area, or are
on your way and can show documentation of your service, let me
know so I can say thank
you for your service. (This offer may
be revoked, or otherwise limited, without notice.) This includes all
US military servicemen/women as well as our uniformed
friends
from Great
Britain, Australia, Italy, Spain...all of our Coalition. I honor the
freedom you're fighting for, and respect the uniform you wear.
Apostille Stamp— for non-United
States citizens
If
you are visiting Hawaii from another country and
are not a citizen of the United States, you can minimize problems
when you return to your country by being prepared with the Apostille
Stamp, if your country is a member state of the
Hague Conference.
The
Apostille Stamp is an international notary seal. The
stamp isn't necessary for a marriage in Hawaii to be legal, but
you will need the correct documentation of your United States
marriage to avoid nightmares with legal documents in your country.
The stamp (notarial) is affixed to the marriage license by the
Hawaii Lieutenant Governor's office, then sent to the address
you provide when you apply for the marriage license. The affixation
of the Apostille Stamp on your Hawaii marriage license means
that a legal document (your marriage certificate) will be readily
accepted in your country. It is issued by different agencies
in different US states and I
can help you with the Apostille Stamp for your marriage in Hawaii.
Visit HCCH for
an explanation of the Hague Convention and "Apostille"; US Department of State Apostille Information; and Hague Convention Counries
Download a PDF document (Adobe Acrobat
reader required) to see what the Apostille Stamp looks like (& where
to obtain in other states).

...more about me
My
husband & I were married in 1971 and came to Hawaii for a honeymoon
in 1973. Actually, husband Bob, active duty Coast Guard was transferred
here, and I quickly, firmly, planted my feet in the sand to remain
here with our twin sons (born in 1973) and later, two daughters. Yes,
Bob managed to convince the government that this was the only place
in the world I would rest my prayers, and we've been here since. (We remained well beyond the three year tour of duty!) Our
children are grown now, on the mainland with families of their own.
After
retiring from the Coast Guard in 1988, Bob pressed forward in his interests, I began work at our Church. He became involved with his woodworking talent while
I became active in the religious and business worlds, lending my talents to benefit various organizations. Today,
he's the man behind RW Butts inc and I'm the woman behind him as well
as MarriageInHawaii.com.
I was commissioned by the state of Hawaii to solemnize marriage in 1996 and my daughters were the first
brides for whom I officiated in 1997 and 1999. Also in 1996, I created my first website and included a single page about marriage in Hawaii. I would occassionally receive requests from brides and grooms to-be looking for a wedding a bit different from the usual wedding packages. Of course I consented! I discovered that I love the excitement of two happy people committing themselves to each other and thoroughly enjoy joining them as husband and wife in marriage.
I'd love to hear from you for your wedding in Hawaii without the cookie cutter!
aloha,
