Questions others have asked…you may want to know, too…
We
live in California and my fiance & I want our wedding in
Hawaii.
Can our minister come with us and marry us there?
For
a marriage to be legal, the officiating minister must be licensed by the
state of Hawaii.
My fiance and I are from Belgium. Will our marriage be legal?
Yes.
A legal wedding in Hawaii is recognized wherever an American marriage
is. You may need an apostille stamp, which I can help with.
I'm
in Honolulu on leave and the Navy is sending me to Okinawa next week.
I need proof of our marriage really fast. Can this be done?
The newlywed couple typically receives the marriage certificate in three to four months. A request to expedite the process reduces the time to three to four weeks (instead of months). On rare occassion a couple can pick up the certificate in person a week to ten days after the ceremony. The people at the marriage license office make an effort to accommodate our deploying troops.
My
fiance doesn't want a ceremony like everyone else's, and we want to say
our own special words to each other. Can we do this?
The
vows for each
ceremony are prepared specificially for the couple being married. No two
ceremonies are the same, and, yes, your own words to each other are welcome.
I
read that a license is legal only in Hawaii. Does this mean our marriage
won't be recognized in Pennsylvania?
This
means that the license to be married can be used only in the state of Hawaii.
Once the wedding is finalized, and the couple married, the marriage is
recognized everywhere.
How
soon after we get the license can we be married?
As
soon as the wedding can be arranged, within 30 days. There is no waiting period.
Where
do we go for the blood test?
No
blood test is required.
